Sandos Playacar is a wonderful resort. Have stayed several times BECAUSE it is listed as a Expedia VIP access resort and I have Expedia gold member tier status. The only VIP benefit offered was 25.00 off spa treatment. Never received sparkling wine and they wouldn’t budge when requesting room upgrade. Was told by reservation desk and customer representative “only upon availability listed in contract”. Resort wasn’t crowded. I was able to book all restaurants for dinner before the nightly shows began. Shows are very good. . Adult section rooms need attention. Elevators closest to Festival Buffet down in buildings 1 & 2 during our week stay. Used all pools except those designated for Royal Elite. All very nice. Next year I am searching Expedia for other VIP resorts. Sandos Playacar should not be listed as a VIP resort. Entertainment, restaurant, bartenders, waiters, spa and housekeeping staff great. Another party traveling with us did have 1 issue with house keeping which was reported and resolved. We love this resort but if you’re booking for the VIP experience, You may want to opt for another resort.

I do not recommend staying at this hotel for a family vacation. Starting from walking in our hotel rooms, it smelled like mold and was very unpleasant to walk in to. On our third day at 5 am, our room got flooded by water from the ceiling and damaged all of our clothes and belongings. The guest service and maintenance came 5 hours later and never insisted for us to switch different rooms. Also, in the resort and in our room, they dont provide clean water bottles to drink water from. Only a broken 5 gallon machine in each room from not being replaced in so long. Also having to pay 12 dollars for a single water bottle at the gift shop. From this, the food was terrible. From breakfast to lunch and to dinner everything was horrible nothing tasted good. I recommend end not to waist your time and money on this resort specifically Sandos resort

Overall we enjoyed our stay! Good things: Spacious room with bunk bed, two waterslide parks, multiple pool options, many delicious juice options, Mexican quick food restaurant fast/yummy, free bike rentals!, resident cats on property, quiet in the evening. Areas for improvement: Food (this is the first all-inclusive we've been to where the food didn't hit the mark) (limited vegetarian options, stale tortilla chips, no soft serve ice cream, no chocolate milk at dinner), all activities were on the beach - would have enjoyed some at the pool, corrosion in shower.

This was my first time in Sandos. The shows are amazing, staff is friendly. I spent 6 days and got bored of the food choices in the buffet area. They repeated the food. The same day I arrived I tried to book a reservation in any of the restaurants they have, but they were full. Out of the 6 days I spent there, I got only 2 days available to make a reservation but they have a late dinner time (9pm) which I didn't take because I didn't want to miss the night show.

The property was nice, you have to walk to the beach but can also take the trolley. I liked walking after breakfast since it gave you something to do. The food was great and loved the octopus at the Italian spot. The Mexican restaurant had some really good food as well. All restaurants were great and the buffet was amazing as well, a lot of food there. Entertainment was fun daily and the beach is beautiful when there is no seaweed. Service by the staff was great and felt that is one of the biggest things about Cancun in general, the people always smiling.

We really enjoyed our stay, the free room upgrade was a very pleasant surprise, the food was good, i found one buffet better than the other. The a la cartes we ate at 3 of them and they were really good (Mexican, Italian, french cuisine). The evening shows were pretty good, my fav was michael Jackson it was really great! I did not like the pushing of their timeshare elite program. There was quite a bit of maintenance going on when we were there. The coffee shop was amazing, the mexican grill was awesome for the evenings! We never went hungry. Our room was huge, we stayed in one of the haciendas, i felt like we were perfect walking distance to all spots on the resort.

I have been to Mexico almost every year for the past 17yrs. The place was not great. The power went out twice and we had no running water for about 6hrs. The trip from the room to the beach or restaurants was pretty far and they only had one working trolley most days. Some times you had to wait 20-30mins due to the trolley capacity. The beach was beautiful, pools opened at 8am but the towel hut didn’t bother to get towels until about 9am. Food was basic and it was very hard to get a reservation. There was also a lot of restrictions if you were not a select or exclusive member. I wouldn’t go back.

We want to clarify that the property is very large, therefore we have small cars that transfer guests from one point to another within the hotel, and are available to everyone throughout the day.Our All Inclusive Complex is conformed by the Family Section, the superior Select section which is only adults and the Royal Elite Hacienda Section, therefore it is a sectioned hotel, but at no time do we think that the family section is the farthest from everyone, on the contrary, our facilities consist of kids club, teens club area, multiple activity courts, foosball and large family water park areas located in the family rooms, another next to the addition next to the Palmaïa hotel overlooking the beach with pool and swim-up bar, so I consider that families have a large area to enjoy throughout all our facilities.Besides if you decide to walk along our health trail you will find on the way many activities for children, such as the city of cats or feed pancho and lola, stroll through the area of the changos, ride a bike, etc.. Multiple pools and an amazing beach are the best things about this resort. They do have a membership where you end up missing out on some premium drinks, advanced reservations for dinning, some beach areas, and few extra food options without it. This resort is very nice and the staff are super friendly. Most of them speak English enough. The walkways are very slippery in the mornings, my mother and father both slipped on the way to catch a sunrise in the early mornings. The food was all very mediocre, mostly just buffet for breakfast and lunch. Dinner reservations can only be made when you check in because you need your room information to reserve them. All of those restaurants were good but nothing out of this world or amazing. Overall the experience was very nice. The worst part of my stay was being approached and asked about extras every single day multiple times a day. We just wanted to relax but someone would ask us about doing an excursion every 45 minutes at the beach or pool. Other than that it was very nice!

Resort was very pretty but very big and not well marked on what way to go. Lots of wildlife which is cool. Buffets you have to book and it’s so busy it’s hard to get in if not prepared. The buffet is average. Not great. Mini fridge and water in the room which was nice. Room service was sparse.

Our family of five stayed over spring break. Kids are ages 11, 9 and 6. The rooms were perfect for us (kind and bunk bed), food was great for both adults and children and there were fun activities for all. The beach was the highlight of our trip - you just can’t beat it. I would recommend Sandos Playacar and would definitely go there again. Great memories are to be made at this resort!

Do not book this resort if i could give them 0 stars i would their staff is so unprofessional and rude the food is terrible and not a big selección of food the hotel has the rooms with ocean view only for adults so if you travel with family or kids forget about getting a nice ocean view room I've stayed at so many resorts in playa del carmen and cancun and never have i ever been treated so poorly like this one not only that the staff only treats their members nicely and attentive (the ones with the black bracelets) i felt very discriminated by the staff in the buffet they never asked for our drink order we always had to get up and almost serve ourselves water because they would completely ignore us and we were supposedly expedia vip members they told us that they would provide us a cake because we were celebrating my daughters birthday and we never got it either their convenient store cashiers were so rude they wouldn't even greet you as you came in and would stare you down until you left literally scary so please pay attention to all the bad reviews this place has they are very TRUE and not to mention their pools are disgusting the water is not clear whatsoever so don't waste your vacation on this place

Easy access to everything. Resort is in the heart of Playa and easy walk to 5ta Avenida. This was a great option for my little family with two young boys, great pools, waterpark, beach is beautiful!! Food options could be better but overall a great experience.

The food ain’t good. The entertainment is limited. DO NOT do the upgrade to adults only area. It is a scam. Smaller and shittier rooms for a higher price. Pool was small with no swim up bar in adults section. Water was luke warm. Discoteca was the absolute worst. Any age can come in and the DJ will play cotton eyed joe, ymca, and fireball five times each within a 30 min period.

Food was really nice! Pools were nice, could have used more food areas to eat around the beach and pools especially for families. Few safety issues a lot of low lighting, no lights, burnt out bulbs. Phones in rooms didn’t work. Door locks didn’t work. Spent about 16 hours away from family trying to deal with being locked out of room or locked in bathroom. Hot tub didn’t work. A lot of animal waste around. Beautiful beach, unorganized check in, stayed in a lot of places but this was one of the worst with customer service or concern for your comfort and safety

If you’re not a timeshare royal elite member don’t bother booking here. You get limited access to beach, dining and pools. The nicest parts are not for you so not worth the money. The family beach area was dirty with garbage and toys and cans but the other areas we didn’t have access to were pristine. It felt like we didn’t matter and the staff treat you as such with the blue family bracelet. Drinks were horrible unless you like sickly sweet and syrupy. I couldn’t even get a decent margarita, ended up drinking tequila soda, boring. Food is meh, and couldn’t find a pico de gallo or salsa or proper guacamole anywhere. Very disappointing, will never book again .

We are pleased to know that, despite believing that the hotel seems to be reserved mainly for Royal Elite (vacation club) members, you had a pleasant stay with us.We would like to clarify that our property is quite extensive. Our All Inclusive resort is composed of the Family Section, the superior adults-only Select Section and the Royal Elite Hacienda Section. Therefore, it is a segmented hotel, but at no time do we think that the family section is far from everyone. On the contrary, our facilities include a kids club, teen area, multiple activity courts, foosball and large family water park areas located in the family rooms, plus another next to the Palmaïa hotel overlooking the beach, pool and pool bar, so we feel that families have a large area to enjoy in all our facilities.Also, if you decide to walk along our health trail, you will find along the way many activities for children, such as the cat city or feeding Pancho and Lola, strolling through the changos area, biking, etc. There are many more activities available for the whole family, and all sections of the hotel not just for royal elite guests.We assure you that we take your comments and observations constructively and will continue to improve as much as possible.
