Misleading pictures!
To start positive, the rooms are nice just like the pictures, clean, with the facilities of a 5* hotel. The breakfast is to cry, almost embarrassing. Fruit-an egg-a toast with jam... exactly the same as the breakfast in a hostel/20usd per night. We booked this 5* hotel for the last 4 days to of vacation to relax en enjoy the sun next to the beach or on the pool. The pictures (on every online bookingplatform) shows nice sunbeds next to the pool on the roof. Very nice, private and comfortable. BUT forget this, these days it is a rooftop bar! Loud music, every day allready from 11 am. No sunbeds but high cocktail-tables and the worst it is public space! Every body can walk in and out! consequence is that staff is imporsenal, the drinks are pretty expansive, no drinks on the roombill, many unkown people come to your 5* hotel, to take some pictures of the rooftop view and the swimmingpool ( where hotel guest pay for) and after that, they leave the hotel (free acces to walk in the corridors) the beach side in front of the hotel is very small and public! So even there you have no private space as hotel guest. All these issues are not acceptable if you represent a 5*star hotel with 5*star prices and cheating pictures. To end positive, the restaurant is very very good and not expansive, i mean the kitchen is deliciuous, the restaurant is old fashion and not cosy at all. The staff was friendly and recognizes our complainings, speciale thanks to Isabel.

Advertisement for bkfast was all misinformed by their displayed images. There's nothing like that at the restaurant and everything like pizza is tortilla flour very tasteless; with their bkfast you need to order through menu in which it's limited and some of the staffs are rude n friendly less. They wait till its ur check-in time before they ask u to fill forms instead of having it done prior to your time. The scene is beautiful because of the Caribbean sea view... Their water is full of chlorine it's too strong u can smell it which I reacted to. When u take a bath, the water goes to the toilet cause it's separated and we had to always clean. Since this is a tourist destination we expect their staffs to understand English and be able express themselves in English but it's a NO. I have to google translate before they get what I meant... A couple of days before our checkout we saw a roach, video it with still image went to the reception and made a report about it. No one from the management came to say a thing nor any apology note which is horibble n disrespectful like they don't care about u but only the money. This is our experience at Playa del Carmen Oceanfront

Do NOT stay here unless you like loud music all day and night, rude stuff and really musty smelling rooms! The music is so loud you can’t enjoy your patio or sleep. When we would come back to the room after dinner the hotel staff in the lobby would rudely accuse us of trespassing if we used the lobby bathroom or sat outside to look at the ocean before going upstairs. The moldy/musty air in our room made us both not feel well and the hotel staff refused to cancel our remaining nights or help us in any way. The location is in the heart of the nightlife if that’s what you’re looking for. The pool could best be described as an oversized bathtub- certainly not a pool. We would not recommend anything about this place to anyone. Had they made any attempt to help us in any way, or even just made us feel welcome instead of constantly harassed coming and going, I wouldn’t have posted a bad review but our experience was terrible and the staff was unhelpful and rude.

This property is central to the downtown core area, however, it’s not as clean as the photos online. There’s no parking available so it makes it difficult to get to the hotel when the streets are closed and then you have to pay to park nearby for $250 pesos a day. The free breakfast is unclear. We got different information from two different waiters. The first day my breakfast order took 45 mins and was wrong and cold. There’s no happy hour that we saw and definitely no mezcal tasting as advertised. Also, be prepared to pay $19.99 usd per person per night for these “extra” services that are not worth it. I’m not sure we would return. The beach out front is also very tiny and not worth it.

The hotel is gorgeous and the staff very accessible and kind. There is a club on top of the hotel that can be fun, but you can hear the music in the rooms and it’s non stop EDM. If that’s your thing, this place is perfect. It’s right on the ocean and right off the main tourist strip. Close walk to the bus station and taxi area.

It is a beautifully design hotel in a super noisy area. I enjoyed it. When I checked in, I was asked for my credit card that was charged $100 deposit. I was assured the deposit will be returned immediately. Two months later, after endless attempts the hotel still did NOT return my $100 deposit which is absolutely outrageous. They admitted that they have made a mistake. But still did NOT return my $100. It's an expensive hotel for a certain type of crowd. Charging deposits and NOT returning them is not cool. I demand immediate return of my deposit. Needless to say, I have all conversations with the hotel staff on WhatsApp. Do NOT trust these people

Unfortunately I never received my refund of $100 back, despite me reaching out multiple times and them guaranteeing I would receive it back. I was also charged $17 days after my stay on my credit card, despite them saying that they no longer had my credit card information. We were also not informed of the mandatory extra fees per night per person upon arrival.

Staff were very pleasant got chair service for drinks on the beach. Only negative is they don't have an outdoor shower beach level to get the salt off. Food was good as well. For beachfront and not an all inclusive this was a solid hotel. Also since it's on 8th it's better for night time noise you don't hear the nightclubs a block over if your patio doors are closed which if you know PDC you understand why that is important.

Nice but underwhelming
Staff is very friendly. Description in the hotel pages is a little inaccurate. Beware of the super fine print. Food here is bland and just ok. Room was dated but really cute. It was very noisy at night but we could deal with it. The roof top pool is falling apart and the bar area has seen better days. The restaurant/beach area is cute but again misleading. The lounge chairs are not included in your resort fee and there are no beach umbrellas unless your sitting in the bar area

Helt ok hotell. Flott stort rom. Bra terrasse med sjøutsikt midt i Playa del Carmen. Rett ved stranden. Kald vanndispensere i hver etasje som vi kunne fylle på kaldt vann i vannflasker. Det som var negativt var den høye musikken på Poolterrassen. Det var akkurat som å komme inn på en nattklubb. Vær obs på at hotellet har en resort tax på 20 US Dollar pr. Dag som du må betale. Denne skatten inkluderer da frokost, 15% avslag på mat og drikke i baren. Tequila smaking og «1 for 2» drinker.

we really enjoyed ourselves at this hotel. The service is great. Please be aware if you book this property it will be very loud. It is right down the street from a senior, frogs and especially on the weekends. It is loud! it appears this hotel is marketed towards younger people which is fine. We were probably 30 years older than most of the people there but it didn't bother us. The rooftop pool is fabulous and has an amazing view. it's an art deco, kind of decor and our room was large. Please be aware that you will be charged $20 a person per night extra when you check in. breakfast is provided the front desk. Workers are very very nice. Also included is gym membership which you have to walk to but it is nice.

Very clean and well appointed hotel. I had looked at it many times and never booked. Mostly as it had so little reviews. I’m very glad I tried it I will stay again. Josleine at the front desk was very helpful. We were group of guys and had six rooms. All were really good.

Black mold all over the ceiling in room 307. Strong mold smell. Front desk staff is rude and ignorant (Except for the manager, she was nice ). We stayed 7 nights . Last 2 days they stopped cleaning our room . First time we complained front desk lady tried to argue that they did clean it because it was checked "cleaned" on their records, then rolled her eyes and said she will report it to the management.... Second day they said they didnt clean because they didnt have enough cleaning staff but they took the tip and left the room dirty.... Also beware of hidden fees. $20 per person per day (our fault, we didnt read fine print upon booking ) but they also forced people to purchase their New Year $350 per person buffet/party package (those who arrived closer to the NY day) which was ridiculous so people had no choice but to celebrate at their hotel so money wont go to waste. We wont be visiting again .

Don’t book it! Pictures are old!
Pictures did not match the accommodation. It was very worn. The towel in our room was crusty in the shower and the shiwer itsslf was disgusting. We booked this for the jacuzzi and it didn’t work. We went to the pool after being disappointed by the room and it was even more disappointing. All the chairs were ripped, the patio was covered in trash and the pool had trash and hair floating in it. The pool tiles were broken and missing. Surfaces were dirty and slimy. It was horrible. Do not book this place. We splurged on this room and we’ve stayed in motels for 50$ nicer than this.

Beautiful ocean views. Vacation starts as soon as you enter the property with the wonderful aroma. Rooftop needs updating.

The restaurant was not opened and I wasn't told about the additional resort fee per person per night until I was checking in. On the upside, the beds were very comfortable and the decor was retro & fun. The shower was great pressure with great hot water and the ocean views were amazing!

La peor opción en Playa del Carmen.
El peor alojamiento que pude haber reservado, no te notifican que llegando te cobran una tarifa diaria obligatoria de 20 dólares por persona por uso de gimnasio y desayuno aparte de lo que ya se paga por el hospedaje, te piden un depósito por si se daña algo de la habitación que nunca te regresan, llevo tiempo tratando eso y no me dan respuesta, no han hecho la devolución del dinero, evítense la molestia de reservar ahí, lo que pudo ser una buena experiencia se arruinó totalmente, el baño es sumamente incómodo, el hotel se siente descuidado, la puerta costaba trabajo poderla cerrar, no lo recomiendo en absoluto.

First of all be prepared for a surprise "mandatory" $120 resort fee for their NASTY and PATHETIC breakfast which was cold and you cannot opt out. Secondly be prepared to pay an additional $100 cleaning fee which they WILL TRY TO KEEP!!!! Loud music starts playing early in the evening and literally lasts anywhere from 3am to 8am so if you planning on getting sleep DO NOT STAY HERE!!!! The place may look quirky and cute online but i PROMISE the pictures are deceiving!!!! Everything in our room was falling apart!!!!! Also, they do NOT provide beach chairs and question you when you ask for beach towels!!! They were definitely NOT accommodating!!!! I LOVE Mexico and will always go back but NEVER again will I stay at the Carmen!!!!! Dont do it people!!!!!

I was in room 406 Nov 25th - 29th, staff was friendly, beach a few steps away. If you like shopping, your steps away as well, for it seem like a mile or greater (shopping). Nice mexico breakfast on the 5th floor. Not that quiet, due to the fact your right by the action. If you fly into cozumel, you need to take a taxi to the ferry for about a 40min ride to the island. Taxi 8 US, ferry around 22US, i subject to get a round ticket to avoid doing it later
