'This is our second time staying at Shimizu and we had, just as 10 years ago, a truly wonderful stay. The hosts invited us to try Japanese calligraphy with them after breakfast and they gave us many suggestions for activities in the neighborhood, like an epic flea market on temple grounds not far from the Ryokan. They adapted the breakfast to my vegetarian diet and it was really tasty. The room is spacious, comfortable and clean. I'm looking forward to spending time in Kyoto again soon and 10/10...

'Een vriendelijk welkom en rondleiding langs de douche, wasmachine en onsen! Het Engels is zéér rudimentair en gaat gepaard met gebaren en mimiek :) Mijn kamer is echt Japans met tatami, futons, nl. twee voor de gasten en muurversiering in stijl. Een raam, dat open kan, met uitzicht op straat en airconditioning. Wifi is aanwezig en ook is er voor mij gebeld in het Japans.'

'The house is really hard to find, but inside of the house is amazing! Newly renovated, outdoor bath, complimentary wine...... It is an ideal place to experience Kyoto.'
