'Valley Ford Hotel is located on Highway 1, convenient for a drive up or down the California coast. As it's right on the road, we could hear cars zipping by until dark and early in the morning. There's no front desk... the proprietors left an envelope for us outside the hotel's door with the door codes, so we could enter easily. I wasn't sure how that was initially going to work, but the area was safe, so it felt ok. If you mess up the code too many times to enter your room, the restaurant's...

'The place is very relaxing. The view of the river and the hills is beautiful. The hotel and the open spaces are very well maintained and a good mix between modern and quaint. All the hotel staff are very warm and helpful. We would definitely want to go again.'
